This week saw the launch of Andy McMillan’s new venture—The Manual—a new limited-run magazine published three times a year.

Each issue will have six substantial, beautifully illustrated feature articles, along with additional rich and unexpected bonuses. Challenging, contemplative, playful, and visionary, the articles focus on bringing a greater depth and maturity to our craft and profession: design on the web.

The first issue will include contributions from Frank Chimero, Simon Collison, Liz Danzico, Jon Tan, the Web Standardistas and Carolyn Wood. Andy is using Kickstarter to crowdsource the funding to make this project a reality.

Always Read The Manual

I spent a few hours on Thursday night putting together a promotional site using Virb’s website builder. The interface is elegant and is a joy to use. I would recommend keeping it in mind for your next project.

At the time of writing almost $14,000 has been pledged. The target amount is $40,000 and the deadline is March 10th. Find out more about the project and be sure to back it, for it promises to be a beautifully crafted, thought-provoking addition to your bookshelf.
